Bison burgers are on the menu for tonight! I am giving this burger some crunch by adding fried onion straws on top.
Please keep in mind that Bison is very lean and you can easily over cook it. I always add margarine to give it some fat. This will help to keep the bison burger juicy as well.

If you want onion rings instead of onion straws all you have to do is cut the onions in larger rings.
In a bowl mix together the bison meat, onion powder, salt, pepper, Worcestershire, and margarine. Mix the ingredients thoroughly. Divide the meat into four sections and form them into patties. Put the bison burgers into the freezer for 15 minutes to firm them up before putting them on the grill. This will help them stay together.
Get the grill nice and hot and put on the bison burgers. Cook them for about 3-4 minutes. Flip the burgers, wait 1 – 1 1/2 minutes, and then put the cheese on. At the same time put the buns on the grill and toast them lightly.
Time to build the bison burger. Put the burger on the bun, add some ketchup, and top it with some crispy onion straws. Don’t forget to add a pile of onion straws on the side!
You can modify the bison burger by adding your own favorite toppings. There are tons of possibilities.
