Not only is this Sloppy Joe gluten and dairy free, it is also meatless. When I got cancer I completely cut out beef. Let’s face it, nothing really replaces beef. Alternative meat choices do not usually have the taste or texture to give that same mouth feel of eating good old fashioned beef.
My doctor has been pushing me to go vegetarian. I do not usually like the options out there, but then I read the package of beyond meat. I decided to give it a try. Some how these people have figured out a way to make this meatless alternative taste like beef. My kid even loves it!
This beef alternative allows to feel like you are still eating a guilty pleasure meal.

Making Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Meatless Sloppy Joes
So how do you make meatless sloppy joes that have a texture and taste of real beef. Take a package of beyond beef, add some spices, and make it happen.
Start by putting oil in the pan over medium high heat. Once it is hot add the onion and cook for about 3 minutes. Next, add the garlic and saute for for another minute.
Add one pound of beyond beef to the pan and cook for about 3-5 minutes. Add the remaining ingredients to the pan and simmer for about 10-15 minutes.
While this mixture is simmering, put your hamburger buns in the toaster. I also take this time to shred some cheese to put on top. Everything is better with cheese, even if it is dairy free!
TIP: If you want melted cheese, open the bun and place a handful of cheese on one side then toast.
Once the buns are ready scoop a healthy portion of sloppy joe onto the buns.
Don’t forget your sides. I served this with onion straws (this recipe is under sides) and coleslaw. You could do potato salad, macaroni salad, corn on the cob, mac and cheese. Any side salad would work. There are tons of possibilities.
