Peach Yogurt Parfait is absolutely delightful. They make a healthy dessert or breakfast option. I wanted to add a light something extra, so I put a piece of chocolate cake on the bottom.
Let’s face it, kids do not want to hear the words healthy and dessert in the same sentence. Our minds are trained to think of dessert as something warm, rich, gooey, and usually not so healthy. Yogurt does not sound like something that should be in dessert either. I am trying to teach my son that dessert can be healthy, but also delicious.
You need to make the yogurt parfait enticing to a kid by adding some surprises. I did that by adding a small piece of chocolate cake to the bottom. You could add some crumbled cookies or maybe some sprinkles on top. This is a game changer for kids and probably a lot of adults. You see your food first and it needs to look appealing. Most people associate dessert with things like chocolate, cake, cookies, etc. Add a little of this to the peach yogurt parfait and you have an enticing dessert.
INGREDIENTS
- gluten free dairy free chocolate cake
- 1 can sliced peaches
- gluten free granola
- gluten free dairy free yogurt (SO delicious)
Making a peach yogurt parfait is super easy, so let’s do it!
First, find a glass that has a rim the same size as the bottom of the one you are putting the parfait in. Use that glass to cut out the piece of cake for the bottom of the parfait.
Gently, slide the piece of cake to the bottom of the glass. Now start laying the other ingredients for the peach yogurt parfait. Add a layer of granola, a layer of yogurt, and then a layer of peaches. So, the layer will be cake, granola, yogurt, and peaches.
You can certainly put another piece of cake before continuing to make another layer of granola, yogurt and peaches if you like. I only put cake on the bottom and then made two layers of granola, yogurt and peaches.
Here is what they should look like when they are done. I added a little more granola to the top for a little crunch.
