Chia and flax seed bread is one way I add extra nutrients to my diet. Adding chia and flax seeds to the mix will increase the nutritional value of your bread. Both chia and flax seeds are high in fiber and protein. Both types of seeds also contain high amounts of calcium and omega 3 fatty acids.

My fish oil supplement had gelatin in it which is made from beef and pork. I had already cut both from my diet after I realized they were causing me problems. Try making some chia and flax seed bread for added nutrition. Just 3 tablespoons of chia seeds adds 18 grams of protein and 27 grams of fiber. The addition of 3 tablespoons of flax seeds add 15 grams of protein and 24 grams of fiber.
There are many uses for chia and flax seeds. You can add them to your cereal, sprinkle them over your salad or meal, you can even make pudding with chia seeds. How cool is that?

INGREDIENTS
- Gluten free bread mix – King Arthur
- 1 packet gluten free yeast
- 1 3/4 Almond milk
- 3 eggs, room temperature
- 4 tablespoons margarine
- 3 tablespoons chia seeds
- 3 tablespoons golden flax seeds
I use King Arthur bread mix because I also have a family member with Crohn’s Disease and this is the only mix that does not bother him.
DIRECTIONS
- Warm the milk in the microwave for one and half minutes, then pour into bread machine pan.
- Melt the margarine and add to the pan.
- Add the eggs to the pan and stir to break. Make sure the eggs are room temperature.
- Pour in the bread mix, make a little well, then add the yeast.
- Add 3 tablespoons each of chia seeds and flax seeds.
- Set the bread machine to dough only. When the machine starts to mix open the lid and scrape the sides to ensure all the flour is mixed in.
- When the bread machine is finished, grease a bread loaf pan with margarine, then place it in a preheated oven. Cook on 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 1 hour.
Chia and Flax Seed bread can be enjoyed alone or with a meal. Either way, you are getting extra nutrients that are important for your diet, especially if you don’t eat meat. Nuts and seeds become a fantastic source of protein.
