Are you looking for a new way to make broccoli as a side dish? I hate making things the same way over and over. I had broccoli, mozzarella cheese, and bread crumbs. Since broccoli can be somewhat boring, I decided to kick it up by making a gratin. So I am making broccoli gratin as a side dish for dinner.
Broccoli Gratin can by used as a side dish, but I suppose if you are vegetarian it can be your main dish. You can use other vegetables to replace the broccoli as well.
I have also made a gratin with scallops and broccoli which came out quite delicious. It takes very little prep time and only needed to cook for 15 minutes. I even made it in my toaster oven and it came out beautiful.
What is a Gratin?
Gratin consists of a lightly browned crust made using breadcrumbs, grated cheese, and butter. Traditionally, this dish is baked in a shallow dish until golden brown on top. Gratin is served in the same dish you cook it in. It is relatively simple, but really adds something to the vegetable dish. Gratin originated from French cuisine.

Dump the breadcrumb mixture on top of the broccoli and put it in the oven for 12-15 minutes. Take the broccoli gratin out when the top is golden brown.
